When lab coats were first designed they only came in white and had one chest pocket for a pen, or prescription pad.

As times have evolved, two lower pockets were added to lab coats in addition to the chest pocket. These were now equipped to hold medical instruments.

Now skip head to 2013, lab coats are designed to have 7 pockets!  Really?  What more can we possibly carry in our pockets with out weighing us down to the ground?  With technology, it does come in quite handy to have the new tablet pockets and smart phone pockets, but with carrying these items around it has added more weight to our coats than before.

Given every medical profession is different, how many pockets do you prefer on your lab coat?
